HAL from HR: Man, Machine, or Mirror?

with Zach Miller

From ChatGPT to Copilot to Claude—and every specialized tool in between—AI is reshaping how we do work. While these tools can enhance productivity and decision-making, they also introduce legal, reputational, and ethical risks for both individuals and organizations. Using real-world examples from the news and active lawsuits, this session will help leaders understand and navigate the risks arising from workplace AI adoption.

This session will also introduce core technical concepts behind LLMs and agentic AI to help participants articulate these risks by linking them to their root causes. Finally, we’ll walk through various use cases to practice recognizing the symptoms of these problems and share practical strategies for managing these risks as workplace AI adoption continues to grow.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

1. Identify the principal risks that AI presents to organizations and the workplace use cases that give rise to them.

2. Understand basic technical concepts behind AI models and how those technical features inform the risks.

3. Develop practical solutions that reduce risks to individual decision-makers and organizational priorities.

4. Recommend organizational safeguards that address risky use cases and foreseeable human error.
