Best Practices in Onboarding

Our May program features a panel of onboarding specialists from GM Financial, GameStop and Southwest Airlines who will share with us the innovative ways they are approaching employee onboarding initiatives.  From reducing employee turnover to providing a solid foundation for performance expectations to increasing employee engagement, excellent onboarding programs prove their worth in the results they can provide.  Join us as our panel of onboarding specialists share their challenges, successes and solutions.

About the presenters

Krystal Besaw is the Organizational Design and Development Consultant at GM Financial, a captive finance company and wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors.  GM Financial grew quickly through acquisitions, and now its Employee Experience Team is leading an initiative to engage employees early, find their fit, and improve their time to productivity.

Krystal holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Capella University.

Cara Carroll is the Associate Talent Acquisition Business Partner for GameStop, a global retailer of video games, collectibles and consumer electronics.  GameStop is currently expanding their Corporate new hire program to include online sessions in an effort to provide more consistent training.

Cara holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington, and she serves as the president of the Fort Worth/Mid Cities chapter of the Association for Talent Development.

Kyle Grant is the Manager, People - HR Business Partners for Southwest Airlines, a growing transportation company known for its employees-first culture.  Even though Southwest has a reputation for offering exceptional human resource programs, the company doesn’t view that as a reason to stop innovating.  Southwest is in a battle for talent.  Knowing it takes time, effort, and money to find that talent, they want to do whatever they can to keep it.  In that light, Southwest is undergoing a revamping of their onboarding process.

Kyle holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas A&M University.
