What is the Competency Model?
If you or your organization want to understand the critical technical and behavioral competencies needed for individual success and growth at all levels of an HR career, come to this session. You will learn about the HR Professional Competency Model, which SHRM recently developed to allow HR professionals to systematically analyze their competency needs and to help organizations develop performance appraisal tools and other HR systems. In addition, you will learn how several SHRM competency self-development tools can accelerate your professional growth and increase your ability to contribute to the success of your organization.

About Sherry Johnson SHRM-SCP, CAE
Sherry Johnson, SHRM-SCP, CAE is Field Services Director for SHRM, based in Round Rock, Texas – in the Austin area. She supports the states of Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. Sherry serves as SHRM’s staff liaison to the Government Affairs Core Leadership Area, for the Advocacy Team initiative, and she is a member of the SHRM Speaker’s Bureau.

Sherry has worked in the HR profession for over 15+ years with industry experience in not-for-profit community organizations, public education, and entrepreneurial experience as owner of a small business. Prior to joining SHRM as a staff member, in 2009, she served as president for her local SHRM affiliated chapter and she held a seat on the Texas SHRM State Council.


This speaker is pending approval for 1.00 recertification credit towards SHRM-CP, and SHRM-SCP through SHRM.

"FMLA Changes are On the Horizon"

Changes to FMLA are on the horizon. In 2015, employers can expect to see an increase in on-site FMLA investigations, changes to the definition of "spouse" and a broadening definition of covered family members under FMLA. Learn how to adjust your policies and practices to ensure compliance with the changing regulatory landscape.  

Rachel Hale’s practice focuses Human Resources legal solutions, best practices and compliance.  Rachel worked for more than 14 years as a Human Resources Professional with Texas Health Resources and American Airlines. She is also of counsel with Hagan Law Group, LLC.
 
Rachel is an attorney, licensed in the State of Texas, and a graduate of Texas A&M University School of Law (formerly known as Texas Wesleyan University School of Law) where she was a member of the school's Arbitration Team and a Graduate Research Assistant, performing research in all areas of HR law. She also holds a M.S. in Business and Human Relations. Rachel regularly speaks and provides training to HR and business professionals through DallasHR, Mid-Cities HR and the HR Southwest conference. 

The legal hour has is pending approval for 1.00 recertification credit towards SHRM-CP, and SHRM-SCP through SHRM and 1.00 recertification credit towards PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification through HRCI. 


All online reservations are due Monday by 5pm. Online registration will be closed at that time. Attendees not registered online will be considered walk-in registrations and will be charged the guest rate of $35.
